Hautalampi Ni Co Cu
Discovered in the 1950’s, Hautalampi is a nickel rich satellite ore to the famous Keretti copper mine, opened in 1913 and closed in 1989 on which the Outokumpu Company was founded. The nickel ores lie 150-200m above the mined out Keretti copper ores, and forms a flat-lying tabular body 500×100 metres in size and 2-25 metres thick. Most of the ore lies between 100-120 metres below surface.
- Indicated Resource 1.18 Mt @ 0.48% Ni, 0.49% Cu, 0.12% Co
- Ore to be transported 45 km to the Luikonlahti Mill
- Preliminary metallurgical test indicate excellent recoveries of nickel and cobalt and copper from two concentrates
- Estimated production of 65,000t Ni-Co concentrate grading 6% Ni, 1.5% Co for 3870 t Ni, 960 t Co
- Estimated production of 17,000 t of Cu concentrate grading 24% Cu for 4040 t of Cu
- Underground ramp and some ore development already in place
Current Status
- Infill drilling underway to increase confidence in the resource and gather samples for bulk metallurgical studies
- Scoping study in progress
