Consolidates IOCG Land Position in Finnish Lapland
Posted on Thursday January 12, 2006Belvedere Resources Ltd as part of its ongoing exploration in Finland has made application for further reservations in West Lapland over areas of high potential for Iron Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG) deposits and related uranium deposits.
Belvedere’s land position in this highly prospective region now totals 130.4 km2 of Reservations and 2.58 km2 of claims covering a 45 km strike length of a major structure, known as the Pajala shear zone that bounds the western edge of the Kittila greenstone belt. This structure is associated with the Kolari IOCG deposits further to the South.
Along this structure are several major untested combined magnetic and electromagnetic geophysical anomalies. This type of anomaly is commonly associated with IOCG deposits in other regions, such as the Cloncurry district in Australia.
Belvedere has identified the most favourable of these anomalies for follow up in the current year.
