Belvedere intersects 122.42 m @ 1.52 g/t Au (includes 68.04 m @ 2.01 g/t Au) on their Kiimala property in Central Finland
Posted on Monday February 19, 2007Belvedere Resources Ltd. (the “Company”) is pleased to announce that the final assay results have been received from its recently completed diamond drill programme on its 100% owned Kiimala property in Central Finland, 30 km north of the Hitura Mine. Drilling was focused on the Ängesneva occurrence, with additional holes intersecting mineralisation on the Vesiperä occurrence two kilometres to the South.
Highlights of the programme include:
• 122.42m @ 1.52 g/t Au in BELANG 4
• 74.05 m @ 1.05 g/t Au in BELANG 3
• 0.72m @ 39.8 g/t Au in BELVES 1
David Pym (CEO) comments “…We are very pleased with these drill results. It demonstrates our confidence in the potential of the area as an emerging gold district. The Ängesneva occurrence *shows excellent size potential and is open down-dip and along strike. The single drill hole into the Vesiperä occurrence confirms the high-grade gold values intersected by historical drilling and demonstrates potential for narrow high grade targets as well as large lower-grade targets within the area. There are numerous other geochemical and geophysical target areas defined within the property area and Belvedere is looking forward to testing these throughout the remainder of the year…”
*Ängesneva Occurrence:* The diamond drill programme consisted of 563.70 metres of drilling over 4 holes. The program was designed to test the validity of historical results and to investigate extensions to mineralisation. BELANG 1 to 4 were drilled on 50 m spaced section lines which infilled the historical drilling to 25 metre spaced sections. BELANG 4 was drilled to test the downplunge extents to the mineralisation. Significant weighted average intersections are summarised in the table below. True widths are estimated to be 70 – 80% of the intersect widths. The drillhole plan can be viewed on the company’s website http://www.belvedere-resources.com/.

There is a clear trend in the mineralisation with grades and thicknesses increasing to the North and down-plunge. The next phase of drilling will continue to target the down-plunge extents of the mineralisation, as well as to provide sufficient infill drilling to allow a resource figure to be accurately calculated.
Vesiperä Drilling: One hole BELVES 1 totaling 112m was drilled on the Vesiperä West occurrence. The hole infills two historical drill sections to 25m spacing and was designed to check the tenor and continuity of previous drilling. The hole intersected numerous zones of gold mineralisation above 1 g/t Au from 15.75m downhole over a drillhole length of 83.75m. Uncut the whole intersection averages 1.0 g/t Au. The targeted high-grade shear was intersected at a depth of 94.3m downhole. True widths are estimated to be approximately 80% of the intersect widths. Significant weighted average intersections are detailed in the table below.

In addition, two shallow holes totalling 105 metres were “wildcatted” on previously undrilled large geophysical targets between Vesiperä and Ängesneva. Both holes intersected significant widths of sub 1 g/t anomalous gold mineralisation. The best intersection is 1.25m @ 3.5 g/t Au from surface in BELVESN 1.
Belvedere’s Kiimala property consists of approximately 300 km2 in reservations and claims, and contains several Proterozoic orogenic (mesothermal) gold occurrences. Mineralisation is associated with a large >150 km long curvilinear crustal structure and second order splays. Belvedere has identified numerous till geochemical and geophysical anomalies with similar signatures to the known gold occurrences. A drill rig has been booked for follow-up drilling in late February.
The drilling was undertaken by Suomen Malmi Oy of Finland, providing 57.5 mm diameter core. Samples are comprised of half diamond core. Core samples are sawn in half on site, prepped at the ALS Chemex prep facility in Sweden, and assayed by 30g fire assay with an ICPAES finish at the ALS Chemex Vancouver Laboratory. The quality assurance-quality control (QAQC) program of Belvedere consists of the insertion of certified standards of known gold content every 20 samples, with blanks at the beginning and end of each batch. In addition, ALS Chemex inserts a number of blanks and standards into the analytical process. Standards, blanks and duplicates make up approximately 15% of the samples assayed. Samples with unusually high gold values are reassayed by ALS Chemex. The remaining half core is retained on site for verification and reference purposes.
